Editorial and Inspiration board via Front Row Society
CREATIVE BRIEF
Are you Bohemian, Bourgeois or the new Bobo? This month, you can be whichever you want, as we are asking the Front Row Society community to explore both the heritage and pomp of the bourgeois and free-spirit bohemian counterculture. These two groups have a distinct impression on our societies' art, literature, film and music. From Marie Antoinette in her decadent palaces to Kerouac roughing it out on the road, the imagery speaks for itself – now is your chance to interpret that voice into a print design
Can you capture the zeitgeist of our counter cultural icons and the allure of aristocracy? Imagine towering castles adorned with tapestries and gold-framed Renaissance paintings. Picture Victorian carriages shuttling couples to ornate Rococo mansions in the countryside. How do such visions contrast with the images of bohemian folklore of the past two centuries – the nomadic hitchhikers, hippies, penniless poets and revolutionaries? Or will you dare to combine the free-spirited, artistic rebelliousness of the bohemian beatnik with the worldly ambitions of their bourgeois ancestors?
Be sure to note the following details before you start working on your design:
In this design challenge, we are asking for submissions for scarves. Please make sure you download the submission package before putting your show on the road! Next, design and submit a Bohemian vs Bourgeois design using the scarf template we provide, as your print might need to be adjusted to fit the template. In order to help you submit your design and get the size just right, the template is marked in gray with additional size information. Please note that while we always do our best to make sure the final product fits your artistic vision, templates may differ slightly from final manufacturing specifications, so make sure your print is versatile and flexible enough in case we need to make some small adjustments!
Don’t forget: when your new Bohemian vs Bourgeois print is finished, be sure to incorporate it into an illustration of the final product. This final image will give the Front Row Society community the best impression of your work when voting.
Good luck!
